Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: May 2025
Using SES Mailbox responsibly keeps inboxes clean and protects every sender on the platform. These are the rules everyone agrees to.
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of SES Mailbox. It exists to protect recipients, preserve sender reputation, and keep the platform compliant with anti-spam laws. By using SES Mailbox you agree to this AUP. Violations may result in suspension or termination.
2. Consent & Permission
You may only send email to recipients who have given you permission to contact them. Specifically, you must:
- Have a documented lawful basis or opt-in consent for every recipient on your lists
- Never email purchased, rented, scraped, or harvested email lists
- Be able to show, on request, how and when each recipient consented
- Honour unsubscribe requests promptly — SES Mailbox processes them automatically and immediately
3. Prohibited Content
You must not use SES Mailbox to send email that contains or promotes:
- Phishing, fraud, scams, or deceptive "from", subject, or routing information
- Malware, viruses, or links to malicious sites
- Illegal goods or services, or content that violates any applicable law
- Adult content distributed without proper age verification, or any child sexual abuse material
- Hate speech, harassment, threats, or incitement to violence
- Pump-and-dump, get-rich-quick, pyramid, or other deceptive financial schemes
- Content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others
4. Anti-Spam Compliance
You are responsible for complying with all applicable anti-spam and data-protection laws, including but not limited to CAN-SPAM (US), CASL (Canada), GDPR and PECR (EU/UK), and India's applicable regulations. At a minimum, every marketing email must:
- Include a clear, working one-click unsubscribe mechanism (added automatically by SES Mailbox)
- Accurately identify the sender and include a valid physical postal address where required
- Use truthful, non-misleading subject lines and header information
- Not continue sending to anyone who has unsubscribed
5. Deliverability & Sending Practices
List hygiene
Keep your lists clean. Remove inactive and invalid addresses. Warm up new sending domains gradually rather than blasting large volumes on day one.
Bounce & complaint thresholds
AWS SES enforces strict bounce and complaint thresholds. SES Mailbox automatically pauses campaigns that exceed safe bounce (8%) or complaint rates to protect your account. Repeatedly hitting these thresholds may lead to suspension.
No misuse of infrastructure
Do not attempt to bypass rate limits, send through credentials you are not authorised to use, or use the platform to test or distribute spam.
6. Your AWS Account
SES Mailbox sends through your own Amazon SES account. You remain bound by the AWS Acceptable Use Policy and AWS Service Terms in addition to this AUP. A violation of AWS policies may result in AWS suspending your sending independently of us.
7. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and take any action we consider appropriate, including:
- Issuing a warning
- Pausing or throttling your campaigns
- Suspending or terminating your account without refund
- Reporting illegal activity to the relevant authorities
8. Reporting Abuse
If you believe a SES Mailbox user is violating this policy, please report it to support@sesmailbox.com with relevant details so we can investigate.
9. Changes
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Continued use of SES Mailbox after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
